It was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century as the main residence for the emperors of the Mughal dynasty. The fort is made of red sandstone, which gives it its distinctive appearance.<br /><br />The Red Fort is renowned for its architectural splendor, with intricate marble inlays, sprawling gardens, and impressive gateways. It served as the center of Mughal power and ceremony for centuries. One of its most famous features is the Diwan-i-Khas (Hall of Private Audiences) and the Diwan-i-Am (Hall of Public Audiences), where the emperor would conduct state affairs and meet with dignitaries.<br /><br />Today, the Red Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is visited by millions of tourists every year.
